Preeclampsia

In simple terms, preeclampsia means that a pregnant woman’s blood pressure gets too high, and this can make her organs not work properly. It can also affect the baby, causing slow growth or even other complications. Symptoms can include swelling (especially in the hands and face), headaches, vision problems, and sudden weight gain.

If not treated, preeclampsia can be dangerous for both the mother and the baby, so doctors monitor for it closely during pregnancy. The best way to treat it is by delivering the baby, especially if the condition is severe. But early stages can sometimes be managed with medication and close monitoring.
